Dental Hygiene and Periodontal Health

While at our office, we make sure that you receive the highest level of service and ensure that our dental work is of the highest quality. To ensure that you maintain great oral health, this level of quality needs to extend into your personal oral hygiene routine. We can help you establish a dental hygiene routine that will keep your teeth healthy and white. If you have any questions about your current hygiene plan please ask us.

Your teeth are not the only important part of your mouth. Your gums are essential to oral hygiene as well. We can provide periodontal cleanings and treatment, or refer you to one of our recommended specialists.

To best keep that “just cleaned” feeling after your visit, it’s important that you brush properly.

brushing teethBrush Your Teeth Correctly

We understand that you’ve been brushing your teeth your whole life. Are those efforts paying off? ┬áThe steps listed below will help you keep that dental office cleaning feel longer, between appointments.

  • Inner/Outer surfaces – brush your teeth at a 45-degree angle in short half-tooth-wide strokes against the gum line.
  • Chewing surfaces – with a flat brush use a back and forth motion.
  • Back of front teeth – tilt brush vertically and gently use up and down strokes with the toe of brush.
  • Don’t forget to brush your tongue – back-to-front motion removes food particles to freshen your mouth.

Remember to spend at least 30 seconds on each section of your mouth, resulting in about a two minute session each time you brush.

Change Your Toothbrush

We recommend replacing your toothbrush at least every three months. Writing the “expiration date” on the handle of your toothbrush in permanent marker can serve as a reminder that it’s time to change.

FLOSS!
